The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka is the biggest hospital in Zambia. It is located approximately 4km east of the city centre. UTH is the principle medical training institution in the country for medical students, interns, and postgraduate doctors. It also trains nurses through the nursing school located within the hospital grounds as well as clinical officers through their college located at Chainama Hills College Hospital. UTH has approximately 1655 beds and 250 baby cots. It provides a full range of primary, secondary, and tertiary health and medical services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. In addition, it serves as the country’s specialist centre, receiving referrals from all over the country.
